Uzbekistan has initiated a trial evaluating transactions utilizing a som-anchored stablecoin supported by sovereign bonds.
On Monday, the National Agency for Prospective Projects (NAPP) announced that it authorized Humo Digital as an active participant inside a specialized regulatory framework managed together with the central bank. The test will examine the creation, distribution, and burning of HUMO, where each digital asset matches a single Uzbek som.
NAPP stated that upwards of 20 vendors are ready to trial HUMO settlements for commercial products and merchandise.
This initiative will likewise connect the transaction-handling and distributed ledger networks of the involved financial institutions. Asterium, an authorized digital asset trading platform, is participating as a collaborator.
As reported by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the opening phase will last for one full year, while the maximum timeframe for the entire undertaking is limited to three years. Authorities will evaluate the sufficiency and protection of the digital asset reserves, digital safety, consumer protections, anti-money laundering measures, and potential threats to monetary and economic stability.
This trial comes after a regulatory structure authorized in November 2025. Back then, Uzbekistan indicated its intention to authorize digital coin settlement experiments within a regulatory sandbox, together with rules concerning tokenized equities and debt securities.
