Blockchain.com and the New York Stock Exchange have entered into a memorandum of understanding aimed at providing Blockchain.com clientele with entry to tokenized American equities and exchange-traded funds via the upcoming digital infrastructure of the NYSE.
This offering is not operational at the moment. It hinges on the rollout of the NYSE’s digital alternative trading system, or ATS, alongside all mandatory regulatory clearances. Should it go live, international users of Blockchain.com would gain the ability to trade tokenized forms of U.S. stocks and ETFs outside of standard trading hours.
The accord provides the NYSE with an additional channel to deploy its contemplated tokenized securities platform. Furthermore, it assists Blockchain.com in broadening its equity offerings beyond the tokenized assets it currently delivers alongside Ondo Finance outside the United States.
The NYSE revealed the ATS network back in January. The enterprise intends to deliver around-the-clock trading, fractional equities, stablecoin settlement, and instantaneous onchain clearance. The architecture would accommodate both tokenized iterations of conventional shares and equities minted straight as digital tokens. Owners of these tokens would preserve conventional privileges such as voting rights and dividends, as stated by the NYSE during that announcement. The debut remains dependent on regulatory green lights.
“Connecting to the NYSE digital ATS will enable us to extend the opportunity to invest in these digital assets to tens of millions of Blockchain.com users around the world,” Peter Smith, executive chairman, CEO and co-founder of Blockchain.com, stated in an announcement.
Lynn Martin, president of the NYSE Group, expressed that the global footprint and digital asset proficiency of Blockchain.com will assist in distributing tokenized securities once the network becomes active.
Stock and crypto data exchange
This pact also addresses the exchange of market data between the two entities.
ICE Data Services, a division of Intercontinental Exchange which is the parent company of the NYSE, intends to supply analytics and crypto market data from Blockchain.com to its customers. Conversely, Blockchain.com plans to integrate specific data feeds from the ICE and NYSE exchanges into its application, offering its base of over 44 million verified accounts access to live equity details.
Blockchain.com noted that a portion of this data will likewise be accessible through June, its artificial intelligence assistant centered on cryptocurrency.
The organizations did not disclose a timeline for the service launch, specify which equities and ETFs would be accessible, or reveal the financial terms governing the agreement.
This disclosure follows the Securities and Exchange Commission rolling out an “innovation exemption” during the preceding week to facilitate onchain trading for select tokenized U.S. equities. This five-year exemption grants qualifying platforms and liquidity providers relief from certain existing mandates. Tokenized shares must retain identical privileges to traditional shares. Synthetic instruments that merely track the valuation of a stock are excluded.
Appetite for tokenized securities has surged as companies spanning both digital assets and legacy finance engineer products tailored for onchain clearance and 24/7 marketplaces. A baseline projection from Citi Institute suggests that tokenized holdings could attain $5.5 trillion by the year 2030.
Blockchain.com’s existing tokenized stocks with Ondo
Blockchain.com already provides tokenized American equities and ETFs outside the U.S. via an alliance with Ondo Finance.
The partners broadened that service to qualified individuals across 30 nations within the European Economic Area this February, following an initial release of upwards of 200 tokenized equities and ETFs within South America and Africa throughout 2025. Those instruments are delivered via the DeFi wallet of Blockchain.com alongside Ondo Global Markets.
Additionally, the NYSE forged an accord with Securitize during March. Securitize is anticipated to function as a digital transfer agent and participating broker-dealer on the upcoming platform.
