Standard Chartered has introduced institutional custody solutions for Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin, alongside intentions to broaden its application as trading collateral.
The British multinational banking institution revealed on Monday that it deployed RLUSD support on the XRP Ledger via its Dubai International Financial Centre office, providing qualified institutional users entry into its digital asset safeguarding framework.
Standard Chartered intends to scale its collateral-mirroring framework to LMAX Group, a professional trading firm, enabling users to leverage RLUSD as trading margin while maintaining the digital assets inside the financial institution’s safekeeping.
This arrangement enables LMAX to acknowledge the worth of authorized RLUSD balances without demanding users to move the assets over to its exchange system. Standard Chartered stated that this approach might minimize transfer-associated hazards and assist enterprises in controlling their exposure toward trading partners.
Ripple, the distributed ledger payments firm responsible for RLUSD, and LMAX Group previously revealed a collaboration in January 2026 to scale enterprise utilization of the stablecoin.
Standard Chartered noted that the extra margin functionalities are still contingent upon concluding paperwork, testing procedures, compliance mandates, and internal sanctions.
Cointelegraph reached out to Standard Chartered for further specifics and will revise this report once a reply is obtained.
