Weeks after bitcoin’s price chart displayed a prominent bullish indicator, Strategy (MSTR)—the largest publicly traded corporate holder of the cryptocurrency—is poised to replicate the movement.
This pattern, known as a golden cross, materializes when an asset’s 50-day moving average surpasses its 200-day moving average. Certain market participants view this crossover as a definitive bullish momentum shift capable of sparking an extended upward trend.
Regarding MSTR, which currently owns $69.81 billion worth of bitcoin, this crossover could materialize as early as Monday. Ever since the enterprise began acquiring the premier digital asset for its corporate treasury back in August 2020, its equity has experienced two prior golden crosses, both of which preceded massive upward surges.
The initial occurrence took place on September 15, 2020, with the stock trading near $15.57. MSTR subsequently climbed to $127.29 by February 2021, marking a 717% surge. A death cross—the inverse of a golden cross—eventually emerged in January 2022. By that juncture, the equity traded at $46.83, remaining triple its worth on the day the positive indicator initially manifested.
The second instance developed on March 2, 2023, at a price of $25.29. Those equities reached a peak of $473.83 by November 2024, advancing 1,774%. When the subsequent death cross arrived in October 2025, MSTR sat at $328.40, still maintaining a 1,199% increase.
It is important to remember that this technical indicator lacks strong reliability. Looking at MSTR specifically since 1999, the shares have logged 19 golden crosses. Across 11 of those instances, the stock traded higher three months later, while only 10 times was it higher after 12 months, based on figures evaluated by CoinDesk.
That represents a 50% accuracy rate. The median return over a 12-month span reached just 3.3%, while the two worst-performing crosses in 2001 and 2007 were succeeded by a 61% drop.
Ever since bitcoin verified its golden cross on September 8, it has climbed nearly 5% to reach $82,000, building upon the recovery from July lows beneath $60,000. Valuation levels peaked past $87,000 earlier this month.
Whether MSTR will mirror bitcoin’s trajectory remains uncertain. Remain vigilant!

Today’s signal
The visual data illustrates MSTR’s daily valuation fluctuations in a candlestick layout dating back to February 2025. The graphic superimposes 50-day and 200-day moving averages in yellow and green formats respectively.
The 50-day average appears poised to break above its longer-term equivalent, validating a golden cross pattern. This develops subsequent to a trendline breakout, presenting another optimistic sign that hints at the possibility of further price appreciation.
