Summary
- Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin is projected to integrate into the Robinhood application by the conclusion of 2026, potentially opening access to the brokerage’s 28.6 million funded users.
- Robinhood intends to provide RLUSD even though it participates in the Global Dollar Network, which backs Paxos’s competing USDG stablecoin, although specifics on how both assets will live side by side remain uncertain.
- The collaboration additionally involves utilizing RLUSD for Bitstamp settlements alongside implementing Ripple’s technology for Robinhood’s treasury management, with plans from both firms to launch perpetual futures trading later in the year.
Ripple’s digital asset RLUSD is slated to become accessible to retail clients on Robinhood before the year concludes, granting the fiat-pegged token entry into a trading platform boasting roughly 28.6 million funded accounts.
“From bringing RLUSD to retail and institutional markets to helping Robinhood manage its own treasury operations, this partnership reflects growing institutional demand for integrated solutions that support customer-facing offerings and core financial operations,” said Monica Long, president of Ripple.
The organizations unveiled this alliance on Tuesday. RLUSD is currently accessible on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp, the digital asset marketplace Robinhood purchased for $200 million in June. Presently, RLUSD is also anticipated to launch inside the primary Robinhood platform prior to the close of 2026.
This choice places Robinhood in a unique spot, considering it helped launch the Global Dollar Network back in 2024 to support USDG, a rival stablecoin created by Paxos. Now, Robinhood is revealing plans to introduce Ripple’s competing asset to its clientele.
The Global Dollar Network, established in 2024, unites businesses that assist in distributing USDG while splitting the revenues it generates. This setup grants participants a financial motivation to advocate for USDG, but Robinhood’s alliance with Ripple demonstrates that such incentives do not prevent members from providing alternative stablecoins. Additional founding participants included Kraken, Galaxy Digital, Anchorage Digital, and CoinDesk parent firm Bullish. Arbitrum became a member earlier this month.
Robinhood has already integrated USDG into its service ecosystem. In July, the consortium announced that USDG would serve as the foundational lending asset for Robinhood Earn, its blockchain-based borrowing and lending feature.
Robinhood did not declare any alterations to its USDG pact, and it remains ambiguous whether RLUSD will be supplied alongside USDG within identical offerings. CoinDesk reached out to Robinhood concerning this situation, but the financial technology enterprise did not reply immediately.
Robinhood recorded 28.6 million funded accounts as of late August. The corporations have not disclosed how many users will qualify to utilize RLUSD once it rolls out within the app.
The strategic partnership furthermore addresses Robinhood’s institutional sector. Bitstamp will leverage RLUSD across the XRP Ledger for clearing transactions, whereas Robinhood intends to utilize Ripple’s treasury applications for liquidity oversight, transfers, and predictive analytics.
Ripple Prime currently supplies Bitstamp with borrowing facilities and margin backing spanning roughly 20 cryptocurrencies. Both entities intend to introduce perpetual futures trading later in the year.
RLUSD, which debuted in December 2024, has expanded to achieve a market valuation exceeding $2.5 billion, as stated in the announcement.
Robinhood has not specified if RLUSD will secure an equivalent function to USDG across its lending programs, or how both stablecoins will be marketed to users.
Also on Tuesday, Ripple, which secured final Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) clearance to move forward with the Ripple National Trust Bank (RNTB) yesterday, revealed the broadening of its alliance with BNY to enhance institutional digital asset safekeeping infrastructure and investigate fresh institutional use cases for distributed ledger technology, including tokenized trade. Both corporations initially partnered in July 2025.
