Polygon Labs has integrated Solana into its Open Money Stack, incorporating the network into a payment infrastructure that links traditional bank accounts with cryptocurrency transfers and disbursements. This development arrives just seven days after Solana launched its Alpenglow consensus upgrade, which reduced transaction finality times from approximately 12.8 seconds down to 150 milliseconds.
In a press release provided to The Block, Polygon explained that enterprises can leverage a unified integration to deposit funds from bank accounts, transfer capital across multiple blockchains, and disburse payments to beneficiaries.
The announcement noted that Kira is one of the initial clients utilizing the new Solana functionality. The enterprise assists users in exchanging between fiat dollars and stablecoins, processing transactions via standard banking rails, and settling invoices with international suppliers.
"We already utilize Solana for stablecoin transfers, and our collaboration with Polygon enables us to convert those digital funds into US dollars within our clients’ bank accounts whenever they require supplier payouts," stated Kira CEO Edrizio De La Cruz in the release.
Polygon indicated that the platform also links Solana with alternative blockchains such as Polygon itself, Ethereum, and TRON, which was integrated earlier in the month. Furthermore, organizations can utilize the stack to establish user accounts and digital wallets, execute currency conversions, and direct payments toward compatible bank accounts, payment cards, cash pickup services, and cryptocurrency wallets.
Stablecoins surge
This rollout coincides with a continued expansion in the transaction volume and adoption of USD-backed stablecoins, with cumulative circulating supply nearing $290 billion according to statistics from The Block’s data dashboard. Tether’s USDT dominates the market with more than $182 billion, trailed by Circle’s USDC at nearly $76 billion.
Vibhu Norby, Chief Product Officer at the Solana Foundation, reported that the blockchain handled in excess of $5.5 trillion in stablecoin transactions throughout 2026.
"With this transaction volume expanding, bridging Solana to traditional bank accounts, digital wallets, and international payout networks enables companies to extend stablecoin settlement options to a broader audience and geographic regions," Norby remarked. "The Polygon Open Money Stack supplies an additional route for enterprises to leverage these features, acting alongside the existing infrastructure and payment tools already present in the Solana ecosystem."
Earlier this month, Polygon finalized its purchase of Coinme, an acquisition that secured money transmitter licenses and exemptions spanning 48 states across the United States.
