The United States Department of Justice announced that it has confiscated upwards of $560,000 in digital assets destined for Hamas, while also taking over servers and domain names utilized by the organization for recruitment and fundraising.
Alongside the announcement on Wednesday, the agency made five affidavits public. Three filings, bearing dates of March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025, detail the cryptocurrency seizure warrants comprising the $560,000 sum.
An additional two affidavits, filed on July 29 and August 18, 2026, address the confiscation of the technical infrastructure.
Per court records, law enforcement relied on confidential human informants to spot and track alternating cryptocurrency addresses shared via an encrypted chat channel and an online donation portal.
The initial phase of those enforcement actions netted approximately $201,400 from digital wallets and accounts associated with an infrastructure that had processed over $1.5 million starting in October 2024, the Justice Department stated when the operation occurred. Those wallet addresses were reportedly managed for the Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
Federal agents also took possession of the web domains and servers powering the organization’s primary portal, Alqassam.ps, enabling law enforcement to intercept incoming digital currency contributions.
According to the department, the enforcement action yielded intelligence regarding thousands of individuals who reached out to Hamas-affiliated platforms intending to contribute funds through either cryptocurrencies or conventional financial channels.
