The initial public offering of shares for artificial intelligence leader OpenAI seems to be postponed until at least 2027.
“I genuinely believe that, considering all the current developments surrounding safety, the present moment would be a poorly advised time to launch a public offering, and we do not experience any urgency regarding that,” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told Fortune.
“We have a tremendous amount of work ahead of us, such as rising to this occasion regarding what will be necessary for safety and alignment, and how the sector and public administrations can collaborate,” he added.
This update arrives as Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei publicly advocated for a deceleration in the artificial intelligence competition on Saturday, prompting prompt agreements from both Altman and Elon Musk.
