Bitcoin Suisse, holding over $3 billion worth of digital assets in custody, intends to eliminate as many as 60 positions in Switzerland, amounting to half of its domestic employees, while transferring a greater portion of its software engineering and administrative operations to international locations.
Based in Zug, the enterprise maintains a global staff of approximately 200 individuals and is shutting down its technology development office located in Copenhagen. The firm currently runs a center in Bratislava and intends to set up an additional facility in Vietnam.
Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Andrej Majcen explained to the Swiss publication Finews—which initially broke the story regarding the reorganization—that these operations can be delivered considerably more affordably in Bratislava and Vietnam.
He noted that the choice stems from the organization’s global scaling roadmap rather than any adverse conditions within the cryptocurrency sector.
Established in 2013, Bitcoin Suisse delivers cryptocurrency trading, custody, staking, and borrowing solutions. Majcen mentioned to Finews that the organization currently aims to broaden its scope past digital currencies into comprehensive asset and wealth administration offerings tailored for affluent persons and enterprise-level customers.
The business has initiated the process of obtaining regulatory permits to facilitate this growth. Its Liechtenstein branch secured approval under the European Union Markets in Crypto-Assets regulation back in June, enabling the firm to cater to clientele throughout designated European Economic Area territories.
