Tonkeeper, which views itself as the premier self-custodial wallet within the TON network boasting upwards of 77 million signed-up users, has officially changed its name to Keeper and widened its compatibility to encompass seven different blockchain networks.
The application presently accommodates TON, Bitcoin, Ethereum, TRON, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, and Base, as noted in an announcement provided exclusively to The Block on Tuesday.
The creators behind Tonkeeper explained that the project was initially developed exclusively for the TON blockchain. This identity change widens its purpose into a cross-chain wallet while keeping its original TON functionality intact.
“Keeper represents the upcoming phase: extending the ease-of-use we are recognized for past the borders of TON and into the wider cryptocurrency market,” stated Andrew Rogozov, founder and CEO of The Open Platform. “Our goal is straightforward: to establish the primary self-custodial wallet for a multi-chain environment, enabling users to store, exchange, and utilize assets freely across any network.”
This rebranding comes after a shift in Tonkeeper’s leadership structure. TOP announced in the previous month that it had assumed control of the wallet’s daily operations, with co-founders Oleg Andreev and Oleg Illarionov keeping their equity stakes. Rogozov guided the enterprise through this operational shift.
Keeper additionally features Battery, its gas-free transaction framework, permitting participants to cover network costs without needing to own the native utility coin for every individual blockchain network.
TOP intends to expand the wallet’s cross-chain architecture throughout the coming year.
