Users of IBM Digital Asset Haven, the company’s asset management and security solution, are now able to link up with permissioned blockchain networks, such as the shared ledger created by Swift, as announced by IBM on Thursday. A fresh beta ISO 20022 messaging adapter enables organizations to direct tokenized deposit operations across the ledger using conventional payment communication protocols.
IBM noted that banking entities involved in Swift’s initiative have successfully evaluated tokenized deposits on the ledger via Digital Asset Haven. The shared ledger accommodates tokenized deposits generated by banks and is designed to permit participating IBM users to transfer digital assets around the clock, with ultimate clearance occurring via legacy frameworks. The communication adapter allows financial institutions to rely on established payment formats and operational routines instead of adopting blockchain-centric procedures, based on a press statement provided to The Block.
Swift initially unveiled the ledger at Sibos 2025, stemming from a prototype developed with Consensys. Over 40 financial organizations collaborated with Swift on its structural design, and 17 are currently engaged in a tokenized deposit trial. On a global scale, Swift links upward of 12,500 banking entities across more than 200 territories.
IBM opens on-premises Haven beta
IBM is additionally rolling out an on-premises beta release of Digital Asset Haven for its customer base.
This alternative setup can be deployed on IBM Z and IBM LinuxONE inside a customer’s private facility to oversee digital assets including stablecoins and tokenized deposits independent of public cloud architectures. IBM stated that the platform alongside its key management tier stays completely contained within the customer’s infrastructure, while IBM Crypto Express hardware security modules safeguard the cryptographic keys.
Digital Asset Haven launched in October 2025 featuring Software-as-a-Service and hybrid deployment choices. IBM developed this platform alongside wallet infrastructure vendor Dfns to serve banks, public sector entities, and additional heavily regulated bodies handling digital assets. The locally hosted iteration utilizes the identical structural design, application programming interfaces, and operational flows found in Haven’s SaaS and hybrid configurations.
"The financial services industry is entering a new era where tokenized and traditional assets will need to move side by side," Tom McPherson, general manager, IBM Z and LinuxONE, said. "By connecting to Swift’s shared ledger and extending IBM Digital Asset Haven to on-premises environments, IBM is helping clients participate in emerging digital asset networks while prioritizing control of their most critical financial operations."
