OKXICE, the collaborative enterprise established by OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the owner of the NYSE, has informed the Securities and Exchange Commission of its plan to roll out a tokenized securities exchange utilizing the innovation exemption.
According to a notice released on Sunday, OKX stated that this upcoming platform aims to deliver permissioned, on-chain trading for U.S. tokenized equities on the X layer. The marketplace intends to feature upwards of 60 companies listed in the United States, with issuers given a 30-day window to decline participation.
The creation of this platform follows the SEC’s decision last month to grant a five-year exemption allowing specific platforms to facilitate the trading of tokenized U.S. equities without needing to register as traditional exchanges.
Among the equities the exchange plans to make available are Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Tesla, JPMorgan Chase, Walmart, Netflix, Coca-Cola, Goldman Sachs, Boeing, Cisco, IBM, Coinbase, Robinhood, Palantir, AMD, Circle, Reddit, and SpaceX, alongside others.
“This is a pivotal milestone toward establishing a genuinely global, round-the-clock Wall Street—and ensuring that the progression of digital finance remains rooted within the United States,” remarked Andrew Cuomo, co-chair of OKXICE and former governor of New York, in an official statement provided to The Block.
“The digital asset movement is actively reshaping our economic framework. Tokenized financial assets represent the next phase. And we are only beginning,” Cuomo further noted.
Star Xu, the founder and chief executive officer of OKX, expressed that tokenization has the potential to render public financial systems “more accessible, frictionless, and constantly operational.”
“The destiny of financial markets lies in authentic on-chain possession. Complete shareholder privileges are what drive that reality,” Xu stated.
