Cryptocurrency exchange enterprise Coinbase plans to relaunch its Pro service before the close of this year, having finalized the integration of Deribit, which it purchased last year.
Coinbase explained that this integration has established the Coinbase Global Exchange. Furthermore, Coinbase Financial Markets, its futures commission merchant regulated in the United States, will soon link qualifying U.S. customers to worldwide crypto derivatives liquidity.
“For the first time in market history, we are connecting U.S. and international derivatives markets into a single liquidity pool,” Coinbase announced at the Token2049 Singapore event. “With this integration complete, we will be rolling out Deribit-powered options, spot margin, and unified portfolios in the coming weeks.”
Coinbase mentioned that guidance released in May by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission empowers Coinbase Financial Markets to bridge U.S. users with global crypto derivatives markets. According to the firm, this grants U.S. institutional customers a compliant pathway to access options and perpetual futures that previously necessitated offshore entities, numerous counterparties, and separate trading platforms.
Coinbase stated that eligible traders outside the United States will gain access to options over the coming weeks. U.S. retail investors are anticipated to receive access later in the year.
U.S. institutional traders will have the ability to trade Deribit options and perpetual futures utilizing Coinbase Prime. Account registration is active, with options trading anticipated in the upcoming weeks.
Coinbase indicated that institutional users will be empowered to trade spot assets, futures, perpetual contracts, and options, alongside utilizing custody, financing, and staking features through a single interface.
Coinbase acquired Deribit, recognized as one of the premier crypto options exchanges globally, for approximately $2.9 billion back in August 2025. Deribit boasted over $30 billion in bitcoin options open interest as of September 30 and handled upwards of $1 trillion in trading volume throughout the previous year, per Coinbase.
Coinbase Pro returns, spot margin coming
“Rebuilt from the ground up, Coinbase Pro will deliver faster order routing, improved execution flows, and advanced tools designed specifically for high-volume active traders executing complex strategies across every market we support,” Coinbase declared.
The business shut down the original Coinbase Pro back in 2022 after consolidating advanced trading into its primary application. The transition to Coinbase Advanced concluded in November 2023.
Coinbase noted that it will also introduce spot margin trading, enabling qualified traders to leverage their collateral to execute larger spot orders, offering leverage up to 10 times on specific major assets and up to five times on other supported tokens.
Additionally, Coinbase has incorporated a fresh matching engine, expedited its onboarding procedure, and revised fee tiers for Coinbase Advanced. The updated fee thresholds begin at $10,000 in qualifying volume and incorporate both spot and derivatives trading activity.
