British multinational financial institution Standard Chartered has announced it will roll out cryptocurrency custody solutions for institutional clients in Singapore.
The bank noted on Thursday that commercial and institutional entities are demanding increasingly secure, regulated, and bank-grade storage options for their digital holdings. Standard Chartered currently delivers these capabilities in Hong Kong, Luxembourg, and the United Arab Emirates.
Patrick Lee, who serves as CEO for Singapore as well as CEO for ASEAN and South Asia at Standard Chartered, remarked that Singapore functions as a vital hub for financial advancement, supported by a robust institutional network and a rising appetite for dependable digital asset frameworks.

He added that a sturdy infrastructure remains essential for enabling the safe handling, protection, and management of tokenized assets on an institutional level.
Financial institutions across the globe are continuously adopting and rolling out bitcoin-centric goods and services. A variety of European and American lenders have already begun extending crypto solutions by safeguarding assets for corporate entities.
Standard Chartered further specified that the safekeeping service will cater to specific cryptoassets, stablecoins, and tokenized real-world properties.
Asset tokenization has emerged as a major focus on Wall Street, with multiple traditional financial entities partnering with cryptocurrency firms, primarily to bring conventional equities onto distributed ledgers for round-the-clock market access. Additional financial instruments are also under evaluation or launch.
Back in 2025, Standard Chartered established a digital currency trading desk for bitcoin and other virtual currencies in London, positioning itself among the initial worldwide banks to venture into spot cryptocurrency brokerage.
This crypto desk was integrated into the foreign exchange trading division. During that same year, the financial institution established a blockchain division known as Libeara to assist corporate clients in tokenizing legacy financial assets.
In the preceding month, the lender introduced bitcoin trading services in the UAE for institutional participants.
Virtual asset safekeeping frequently serves as the initial launching pad for banks entering the blockchain sector. BNY Mellon became the pioneer among major U.S. banks to deliver digital asset custody solutions back in 2022.
Furthermore, Germany-based Deutsche Bank noted last month that it intends to initiate a storage offering for ether, bitcoin, and chosen stablecoins directed at European corporate and institutional accounts later in 2026, subject to regulatory clearance.
