Meanwhile, a Bitcoin (BTC) life insurance provider, has secured $37.5 million from current backers in a financing round spearheaded by Bain Capital Crypto, lifting its cumulative funding past $180 million as the enterprise broadens its reach outside the United States.
The Bermuda-headquartered business revealed on Thursday that Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, and Morgan Creek Digital also took part in the investment.
This fresh capital arrives on the heels of an $82 million financing in October 2025, which was jointly led by Bain Capital Crypto alongside Haun Ventures. Meanwhile, whose list of investors features Sam Altman, previously closed a $40 million Series A round in April of that same year.
Based on audited data published in April, Meanwhile held 1,183 BTC in aggregate assets at the conclusion of 2025, marking more than a fivefold increase compared to the prior year. Furthermore, the organization registered 759 BTC in statutory surplus and capital. On Thursday, the firm shared that its net long-term underwriting revenue has already surpassed the complete figure registered last year and remains on path to climb by more than 100% throughout 2026, though a specific monetary amount was not disclosed.
"Meanwhile owns every layer of a regulated life insurer and builds it like an AI-enabled startup," Bain Capital Crypto Partner Stefan Cohen stated in the announcement. "The growth this year proves the model."
In early 2026, Meanwhile rolled out BTC Life 1-Pay tailored for affluent customers situated outside the U.S. This whole life coverage demands a single premium settled in bitcoin and delivers a guaranteed payout in the same digital currency upon death. Policyholders are permitted to borrow up to 90% of the policy value following the first year, free from repayment timelines or margin calls.
Its preceding BTC 10-Pay offering was designed specifically for American taxpayers.
Meanwhile expands international broker network
The enterprise mentioned it has onboarded 15 brokers catering to wealthy households since the debut of BTC Life 1-Pay, spanning locations like Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, and Switzerland. Among its collaborators are Lioner, an insurance and wealth advisory firm possessing branches in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Zurich, alongside Apeiron Group, which runs a marketplace dedicated to high-net-worth life insurance.
"Wealthy families around the world already hold bitcoin. What they haven’t had is a regulated way to pass it on," remarked Meanwhile co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Zac Townsend. "Brokers came to us because their clients kept asking. This round lets us keep up with them."
"As Bitcoin and other digital assets become part of the wealth landscape, high-net-worth individuals with international interests and ties are thinking more broadly about how they manage wealth for the future," noted Lioner Partner Giorgio Jeni. "We’re reaching a turning point where more high-net-worth clients are asking not just how to hold bitcoin and digital assets, but how to plan around them and ultimately transfer that wealth to the next generation," added Apeiron Group CEO Justin Man.
Meanwhile secured its Class IILT authorization from the Bermuda Monetary Authority back in July 2024 after spending two years within the regulatory sandbox. The corporation maintains its balance sheet, reserves, and audited financial reports denominated in bitcoin, while supervised institutional custodians safeguard client funds.
