The Bitcoin reserve corporation Strategy (MSTR) added 334 more BTC to its balance sheet, spending approximately $28.7 million at an average cost of $85,838.80 per coin within the timeframe of September 28 and October 4, as disclosed in a Monday 8-K filing submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission.
According to the enterprise’s co-founder and executive chairman, Michael Saylor, Strategy currently commands a record total of 848,000 BTC valued at roughly $73 billion, acquired at an average price of $75,440.70 per coin for an aggregate expenditure of approximately $64 billion, which accounts for fees and operational expenses.
To provide some context, Strategy’s accumulated tokens represent upwards of 4% of the absolute 21 million bitcoin supply limit, translating to roughly $9 billion in unrealized profits at current market valuations.
Strategy funded these latest purchases utilizing proceeds generated from at-the-market offerings of its Class A common stock, MSTR, alongside its USD Cash reserves. Over the preceding week, Strategy liquidated 92,894 shares of MSTR for roughly $15.7 million. Based on the regulatory document, an additional $18.8 billion in MSTR stock remains authorized for future issuance and distribution under this initiative as of October 4. The corporate USD Cash reserves covered the remaining $13 million of the purchase price.
Additionally, Strategy bought back 1.77 million STRC preferred shares last week for approximately $176.3 million. These recent purchases absorbed $154.1 million from the company’s USD Cash pool, while $22.2 million came from interest accumulated on Strategy’s cash, cash equivalents, and short-term holdings. The firm further drew $142.5 million from its USD Reserve to service preferred stock dividends and interest obligations on its existing debt.
As of October 4, the respective balances for its USD Reserve and USD Cash stood at $4.88 billion and $833.4 million, the organization reported.
