Centrifuge has released a tokenized developing nations debt fund overseen by Schroders on the Solana network, representing the trillion-dollar-plus asset manager’s initial rollout on this blockchain.
The portfolio, known as the Schroder International Selection Fund Emerging Market Bond, delivers onchain access to Schroders’ professionally directed developing nations fixed-income approach, covering sovereign, enterprise, and domestic currency allocations.
This release broadens tokenized real-world assets past cash and short-dated treasury instruments into sophisticated, actively directed investment portfolios.
Schroders’ head of operations, Marita McGinley, described the introduction as “further evidence of our dedication to crafting premier investment products that satisfy the changing demands of participants in the modern digital era.”
This represents another instance of an institutional money manager transitioning traditional financial instruments onto the blockchain. New York Life Investment Management collaborated with Centrifuge to introduce a tokenized high-yield enterprise bond portfolio. Meanwhile, Coinbase enlisted Centrifuge to tokenize exchange-traded funds, credit portfolios, and structured vehicles on Base, expanding upon an earlier strategic investment with the trading platform.
“Developing nations debt is a sector where expertise, regional knowledge, and active direction are exceptionally crucial,” noted John Mensack, Senior Investment Director for Fixed Income at Schroders. “As the decentralized financial network matures, we likewise acknowledge the value of introducing pertinent developing markets debt alternatives onchain, aiding in making the asset class more reachable and prepared for tomorrow.”
