A Nasdaq-traded firm valued at roughly $8 million indicates it might liquidate bitcoin valued at approximately $450 million following the Binance security breach, which caused its leadership to re-evaluate the dangers associated with cryptocurrency ownership.
Next Technology Holding (NXTT), a Japanese software enterprise, announced after the market closed on Friday that its board greenlit the sale or leveraging of its nearly 5,833 BTC across single or multiple tranches.
The business highlighted the Binance security breach, platform vulnerabilities, and the prospective danger that quantum computing presents to the cryptographic foundation of bitcoin as key drivers for this choice. It emphasized that zero portion of its bitcoin reserves is maintained on or via Binance.
Chief Executive Weihong Liu will determine the execution schedule, pricing, and volume of any potential deals, according to the corporation. This approval permits open-market liquidations, over-the-counter agreements, and loans secured by bitcoin, though execution remains entirely uncertain.
The financial scale is dramatic. NXTT finished Friday at $5.30, valuing its approximate 1.47 million shares in circulation at around $7.8 million, based on CoinDesk figures. With bitcoin trading near $77,000, its claimed digital asset reserves approach $449 million — surpassing fifty times the company’s equity capitalization.
The vast majority of the bitcoin originated from a single corporate acquisition. In March 2025, Next Technology secured 5,000 BTC via a prior contractual arrangement, compensating through equity and warrants combined with an earlier cash advance.
The total valuation was logged at $158.1 million, equating to approximately $31,600 per token at that point in time.
Its corporate annual filing notes that “substantially all” of the digital currency is kept with institutional depositaries located in Japan, though specific names are omitted.
The regulatory documents examined by CoinDesk omit public wallet identifiers that would enable shareholders to autonomously verify the stated cryptocurrency reserves.
CoinDesk has reached out to Next Technology to name its custodial partners and supply wallet identifiers or depositary verification confirming the reserves.
