Over the last 24 hours, Bitcoin has fallen more than 2%, while other prominent cryptocurrencies like ether, XRP, and solana experienced even steeper declines. Rather than being isolated to the digital asset sector, this shift resembles a widespread retreat from higher-risk investments.
Copper futures, which serve as a key indicator for worldwide economic vitality, dropped nearly 1% to build upon a 1.6% loss from Wednesday. Additional growth-dependent assets retreated, with Asian equities being pulled downward by a sell-off among Korean semiconductor manufacturers. Nasdaq futures and risk-oriented currency pairs, such as the Australian dollar against the Swiss franc, also experienced downward movement.
Simultaneously, Treasury yields are decreasing—signifying rising bond prices—while gold has advanced by 1%. The 10-year note yield, which acts as the primary benchmark borrowing rate, decreased by eight basis points to reach 5.08%, extending its retreat from a recent peak of 5.36%. Both Treasuries and gold are traditionally viewed as safe-haven assets.
Combined, these market shifts indicate that participants are scaling back their exposure to risk and pursuing security, accompanied by underlying concerns regarding stagflation.
“It feels more like a stagflationary environment where risk assets and the US dollar generally underperform, while gold outperforms,” InvestingLive analyst Giuseppe Dellamotta wrote in a market update.
Apprehensions that the Federal Reserve might increase interest rates have been highlighted as a contributing factor following Wednesday’s higher-than-expected United States consumer price index report. However, that specific worry appears to be subsiding.
CME fed funds futures now price in only a 29% likelihood that the central bank will elevate its benchmark rate into the 4% to 4.25% bracket later this month. The remaining probability points toward rates holding steady at 3.75% to 4%. Expectations neared 50% immediately following the CPI data release before rapidly receding.
Looking ahead, Thursday’s producer price index will provide further insight into the level of persistent inflation remaining in the economic pipeline. A strong reading could intensify the prevailing risk-averse sentiment.
Traders will also monitor artificial intelligence trading activity and observe whether the unwinding trend persists. Analysts at 10x Research continue to favor holding bitcoin throughout this correction phase, provided that BTC remains above the $78,000 threshold. Furthermore, they prefer utilizing “ether as a hedge for BTC long positions.”

Today’s signal

The chart illustrates daily candlestick price fluctuations for ether dating back to May.
Ether is currently testing a dual support area around $2,350, which is established by a horizontal trendline alongside an ascending trendline. The horizontal boundary has served as consistent support since August 23, whereas the rising trendline outlines the bullish trajectory stemming from the July lows.
A decisive drop below this intersecting zone would indicate a substantial weakening in demand and could pave the way for deeper market declines.
