Meanwhile, the pioneer life insurance provider licensed to function completely in Bitcoin, has secured $37.5 million in fresh capital from its current backers, the organization announced.
Bain Capital Crypto spearheaded the financing round, with contributions from Haun Ventures, Framework Ventures, Pantera Capital, Apollo, Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, alongside Morgan Creek Digital. This injection pushes Meanwhile’s cumulative capital raised past $180 million. Sam Altman also counts among the supporters.
The business explained that this investment follows a sharp rise in international appetite for its Bitcoin-based life insurance products outside the United States, specifically across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, driven by macro-level financial volatility.
Zac Townsend, co-founder and chief executive officer of Meanwhile, stated in an announcement, “Affluent households globally already possess Bitcoin. What they have lacked is a compliant mechanism to pass it down.”
“Brokers approached us because their customers kept making inquiries. This fundraising enables us to keep pace with them.”
During the early months of 2026, Meanwhile debuted BTC Life 1-Pay, a single-premium whole life coverage option tailored for high-net-worth customers outside America. This represents the firm’s second offering category, following the introduction of BTC 10-Pay, which targets US taxpayers.
Under the BTC Life 1-Pay plan, an insured party contributes a single premium denominated in Bitcoin and obtains a guaranteed payout in Bitcoin upon death that lasts a lifetime. The policy value expands in Bitcoin, and following the initial year, the holder is permitted to borrow up to 90% of its worth without any mandated repayment timeline or margin calls.
Such policies can be held by individual persons, trusts, or corporate entities, which the company indicates makes them optimal for estate planning and generational succession.
Ever since the rollout, Meanwhile has engaged 15 brokers catering to wealthy clans throughout Singapore, Hong Kong, the UAE, as well as Switzerland. Collaborators feature Lioner, an insurance, trust, and family office enterprise maintaining bases in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Zurich, alongside Apeiron Group, which serves as a marketplace for high-net-worth life insurance.
Justin Man, chief executive officer of Apeiron Group, noted, “We are reaching a pivotal moment where additional high-net-worth customers inquire not merely about storing Bitcoin and digital assets, but about structuring strategies around them and ultimately handing that fortune down to subsequent generations.”
Meanwhile reported that its net long-term underwriting revenue has already surpassed the entirety of last year and remains on trajectory to more than double throughout 2026. The enterprise declined to provide precise figures.
Stefan Cohen, a partner at Bain Capital Crypto, remarked, “Meanwhile controls every tier of a compliant life insurer and constructs it like an AI-driven startup. The expansion observed this year validates the business model, and we are thrilled to support them once more.”
The corporate operating entity, designated as Meanwhile Insurance Bitcoin (Bermuda) Limited, holds the inaugural Class IILT authorization issued by the Bermuda Monetary Authority. It acquired the authorization in July 2024 subsequent to spending two years inside the regulatory sandbox.
The insurer’s financial ledger, reserves, and audited financial statements are completely denominated in Bitcoin. Policyholders’ Bitcoin assets are safeguarded via regulated institutional custodians.
