Summary
- Dogecoin Labs will combine the MyDoge wallet, DogeOS application network and Such App merchant tools to expand ways for DOGE holders to use and spend their coins.
- MyDoge says it has more than 500,000 users, while Such App already supports invoices and in-person QR payments.
- DogeOS, which remains unfinished, has opened a public test network for developers. Featured applications are listed as “coming soon,” and a proposed security link that would let Dogecoin’s network verify its applications is still in draft form.
The developers behind a Dogecoin DOGE cryptocurrency wallet, a software application network, and merchant payment utilities are merging to establish Dogecoin Labs, aiming to offer DOGE owners expanded opportunities to spend and utilize their digital tokens.
Established alongside the Dogecoin Foundation, Dogecoin Labs will direct and manage MyDoge, DogeOS, and Such App, as detailed in a press release provided to CoinDesk. Jordan Jefferson, the creator of MyDoge and DogeOS, will step into the role of CEO.
This initiative bridges three distinct components of an emerging DOGE commercial ecosystem. Developers create software on DogeOS, users discover them via MyDoge, and vendors leverage Such App to process transactions. Although Such App currently features beta support for invoicing and face-to-face QR code transactions, its integration with DogeOS is currently under development.
Originally established in 2013 as a humorous concept featuring a shiba inu graphic, Dogecoin ranks among the oldest digital assets. The token has risen by 3.9% over the preceding 24 hours, recently changing hands near 8.2 cents.
MyDoge reported scaling past 500,000 users without utilizing paid acquisition strategies. Its freshly launched V3 upgrade links the storage tool directly to programs under construction on DogeOS. The disclosure did not clarify how many wallet holders remain active or have interacted with those applications.
The foundation and its commercial branch, House of Doge, are supplying intellectual property and engineering personnel. While the foundation maintains its focus on open-source advancement, advocacy, and community outreach, Labs will direct its efforts toward commercial products and marketplace ventures.
On September 30, DogeOS launched its public test environment, enabling programmers to construct Ethereum-inspired lending protocols, exchanges, and interactive games utilizing test DOGE. Because Dogecoin natively manages ledger transfers, these programs operate on an independent infrastructure.
Three weeks later, the public manual for DogeOS still categorizes its showcase applications as “coming soon.”
Furthermore, the network’s planned security bridge to the main Dogecoin blockchain requires additional development. DogeOS aims to have the primary Dogecoin network validate cryptographic proofs confirming the correct execution of its applications. A suggested protocol modification to facilitate this capability is currently in draft status. Until this bridge goes live, participants must depend on trusted operators and hardware chosen by DogeOS to verify correct program functionality.
