Hunter Biden, son of former American president Joe Biden, is rolling out a cryptographic token named “LAPTOP” on the Base network on September 9, as stated by a report from the Wall Street Journal.
The asset has a total supply of 1 billion tokens, with creators such as Biden claiming 30% of that pool. These holdings will remain locked against sales for half a year and subject to a two-year vesting schedule, while another 20% is scheduled for distribution via two airdrop waves directed at addresses experiencing losses on the TRUMP memecoin, subscribers to Biden’s Substack, and an email roster maintained by his associate, video journalist Andrew Callaghan.
An additional 30% of the supply is set aside for destruction contingent upon predetermined milestones, like Democrats securing the 2028 presidential victory, bitcoin reaching a fresh BTC$79,235.04 peak price, or the market valuation of LAPTOP surpassing that of TRUMP.
Biden hinted at the trading symbol on X shortly afterward alongside a video compilation featuring news broadcasters talking about his notorious personal computer, the device he left behind at a repair facility in Delaware back in 2019 whose data files, featuring messages and correspondence concerning international commercial ventures, became public knowledge ahead of the 2020 presidential race.
The TRUMP token reached a peak valuation of $15 billion upon its introduction in early 2025, before dropping dramatically to $2, carrying a market capitalization of $600 million when this article was prepared. Financial filings from Trump indicate earnings of $1.4 billion generated through the memecoin alongside related cryptocurrency activities over the past year.
