Jito‘s JTX intends to roll out an equities capability in roughly two weeks, a mobile application later in the autumn season, and perpetual futures “perhaps later this winter,” according to statements made by Jito Foundation President Brian Smith during a conversation with The Starting Block at the Digital Asset Summit 2026 Asia on Wednesday.
“We certainly plan to incorporate perps, perhaps later this winter,” Smith noted. “However, we feel there is immense opportunity for us to set ourselves apart through spot functionality, which is why our focus is dedicated there at the moment.”
The Solana-centric trading platform debuted back in July, offering spot trading capabilities for cbBTC, SOL, HYPE, and various memecoins, as well as tokenized stocks and ETFs. Upon its debut, the project announced a per-trade fee structure where 80% of the earnings go to the Jito DAO for purchasing and burning JTO tokens, while the remaining 20% goes to referral rewards.
When questioned about trading volume figures since the launch, Smith declined to share specific numbers, choosing instead to emphasize the rapid pace of product development.
“If you compare the application at its July launch to its current state just two months later, the user experience has advanced tremendously,” he explained. He also mentioned that the crew includes two full-time data scientists extracting onchain insights to power an upcoming discovery tool inside the app.
Smith contrasted JTX with competing applications on Solana, characterizing the service as a “permissionless Robinhood” tailored for extended holding periods and attractive fee rates. He remarked that other Solana protocols leaned heavily toward speculative memecoins: “It often feels like stepping onto a casino floor, and that atmosphere simply does not align with our vision.”>
Regarding perps, Smith acknowledged that Solana “still has substantial ground to cover,” praising Hyperliquid for successfully onboarding centralized exchange traders to the blockchain while acknowledging Solana as the dominant force in spot markets. Jito Labs CEO Lucas Bruder stated during the initial launch that the platform targets individuals who identify as traditional traders rather than strictly crypto-native users.
