Japan’s Bitcoin treasury firm has shifted 10,270 BTC over to Coinbase Prime throughout the current week, representing greater than 29% of its documented reserve.
Metaplanet, ranking as the fourth-biggest corporate holder of Bitcoin reserves, dispatched 4,800 BTC valued at approximately $377 million to Coinbase today, fueling rumors regarding a potential liquidation of its digital assets.
Based on information from Arkham Intelligence, Metaplanet relocated 4,800 BTC to Coinbase Prime today, coming on the heels of a 2,000 BTC transaction valued at $155.5 million two days prior, a cluster of transfers three days earlier amounting to 3,331 BTC worth close to $266 million, and an initial movement six days ago of 139 BTC valued at $11.1 million. Collectively, these allocations totaled 10,270 BTC representing an estimated $806.3 million within this week alone.
Onchain Lens, an X account focused on blockchain analytics, published the metrics and postulated that Metaplanet’s transfer was “likely to sell.” Conversely, a separate market analyst suggested that the firm could simply be employing the exchange platform for custody services. No definitive proof has emerged indicating whether the entity plans to divest the Bitcoin or retain it.

This development arrives after reports that Capital B, a French Bitcoin treasury entity, is taking an alternate path after disclosing it secured €21.0 million ($24.5 million) via a private equity placement in order to purchase 270 BTC. Even so, Metaplanet aligns with a wider market pattern, as smaller treasury operations have lately offloaded their reserves.
