International financial technology firm Revolut has obtained a Distributed Ledger Technology provider permit from the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission for a newly established corporation, the business disclosed in an announcement provided to The Block on Monday.
The fresh entity, named Revolut Global Digital Assets Limited, will facilitate the firm’s worldwide digital currency activities, according to the announcement.
Obtaining our DLT authorization from the GFSC demonstrates our dedication to maintaining top-tier regulatory standards, stated Emil Urmashin, who serves as Revolut’s general manager for crypto and new bets, in the release.
Revolut presently provides digital asset services inside the United Kingdom via Revolut Ltd and throughout the European Economic Area through Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd, which functions under European Union MiCA regulations.
The business serves more than 80 million consumer clients globally alongside over 16 million digital asset participants, according to the release.
Revolut has intensified its growth efforts throughout the current year. During March, the organization gained authorization to launch Revolut Bank UK following the removal of licensing limitations by British authorities. In the preceding month, the firm acquired conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in the United States while advancing its quest for an American banking charter.
Furthermore, the enterprise initiated the deployment of its EURR stablecoin pegged to the euro for select clients residing in Poland, Denmark, and Portugal during August, with wider availability across the EEA scheduled for later in the year.
Revolut refrained from disclosing specific target markets or timeframes for its Gibraltar-based subsidiary. The organization noted that particulars regarding focused territories and deployment schedules will be shared at a later date.
