BNY broadened its alliance with Ripple by integrating XRP alongside the USD-pegged stablecoin RLUSD into its institutional custody infrastructure, the firms announced on Tuesday.
The financial institution currently acts as the main reserve guardian for RLUSD and maintains a custody arrangement with Ripple Prime. Per the updated agreement, the enterprises plan to allow BNY customers to create and redeem RLUSD straight through the bank while investigating tokenized trade finance on the XRP Ledger, an official release stated.
“We’re moving past the initial issuance of assets onchain,” Monica Long, Ripple’s president, stated in the announcement, noting that the subsequent phase focuses on making tokenized assets “usable for payments and collateral across financial markets.”
As an extension of this growth, BNY and Ripple likewise collaborated with liquidity platform C2FO to pilot tokenized trade finance. The initiative concentrates on supply chain receivables, seeking to transition corporate working capital onto public blockchain architecture, the organizations explained.
Vendors can acquire capital within seconds against verified invoices, instead of awaiting multiple days for conventional bank transfers to process, according to a distinct announcement. Participating liquidity suppliers will finance these disbursements, whereas original billing conditions and payment deadlines stay unaltered.
Ripple additionally revealed a collaboration with Robinhood encompassing stablecoins, treasury functions, and institutional marketplaces. RLUSD is already accessible on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood, with deployment inside the Robinhood application anticipated later in the year. Ripple indicated that Robinhood will leverage the stablecoin for institutional clearing on the XRP Ledger and incorporate Ripple Treasury for cash management, transaction execution, and liquidity administration.
RLUSD has expanded to roughly $2.5 billion in market capitalization following its December 2024 debut, with upwards of $1 billion minted directly on the XRPL. The network has handled in excess of 4.6 billion operations since inception, executing settlements within three to five seconds, the firm reported.
