A recent study indicates that Solana has maintained zero documented mainnet shutdowns over the past two years, though validator stake, hosting providers, and client software concentrations require ongoing observation.
A publication from Fidelity highlights that Solana has achieved notable advancements regarding network vitality encompassing performance metrics, economic protection, and overall resilience.
FCAT (Fidelity’s Center for Applied Technology) pointed out in its report that the layer-1 distributed ledger has experienced zero recorded primary network disruptions for a duration of two years, although clustering within staking pools, server hosting, and client programs presents a potential risk for disruptions.
The study mentioned that economic protection benefits from high staking levels alongside reward mechanisms that compensate validators for upholding good uptime and performance. Furthermore, high transaction capacity, minimal latency, and cheap fees bolster real-world utility at scale.

Nevertheless, the Fidelity document emphasized that multiple aspects related to decentralization and system robustness demand continuous watch, particularly the concentration of stakes among a limited set of validator operators and entities.
On August 21, Cointelegraph reported that Solana shortened its slot duration to 350 milliseconds, representing the initial decrease since the platform’s launch, based on statements from Jacob Creech, the Solana Foundation vice president of technology.
During June, the Solana Foundation revealed intentions to lower slot durations down to 200 milliseconds, asserting that this adjustment would enhance network responsiveness and speed up transaction verifications on the ledger. Three additional cuts of 50 milliseconds each are currently scheduled.
