Strive expanded its bitcoin reserves to 29,462 BTC, whereas Metaplanet surpassed Twenty One following a net addition of 1,000 BTC, raising the threshold for the second position.
Strive acquired an additional 2,000 bitcoin for approximately $169 million last week, representing its biggest buy since June and bringing it very close to MARA for the fourth-largest public BTC treasury.
The company executed the bitcoin purchases between September 28 and October 2 at a mean price near $84,422, lifting its aggregate total to 29,462 BTC valued at roughly $2.55 billion, according to a Form 8-K filing submitted to the SEC on Monday.
This acquisition stands as Strive’s largest since acquiring 2,500 BTC on June 2, leaving the firm trailing MARA by 6,115 BTC, which currently holds 35,577 BTC.
Strive financed these recent acquisitions primarily through sales of its SATA preferred shares, which constituted 61.5% of the total capital raised, while warrant exercises brought in $56.7 million, as noted by CEO Matt Cole.
Additionally, Strive incorporated preliminary third-quarter metrics within the 8-K report, disclosing that it secured 8,137 BTC at an average cost of $78,885 throughout the quarter. The organization also reported holding nearly $285 million in cash and cash equivalents as of September 30.
Its year-to-date BTC yield climbed to 63.2%, while reporting an amplification ratio—defined as the proportion of preferred equity and debt relative to the value of its BTC—of 55.3%, noting ambitions to elevate that figure above 60% while bitcoin trades under $100,000.
Bitcoin treasury goalposts shift
While Strive inches closer to MARA, the enterprise’s vision of finishing as the world’s second-biggest publicly traded bitcoin treasury encountered additional hurdles over the past week.
Japan-based Metaplanet concluded the third quarter holding 44,000 BTC after offloading 10,000 BTC and subsequently reacquiring 11,000 BTC to “prove liquidity.” The net increase of 1,000 BTC pushed Metaplanet ahead of Twenty One, which maintains 43,514 BTC, securing the runner-up spot.
Consequently, Strive remains 14,538 BTC behind Metaplanet’s current inventory. With approximately 12 full weeks left in the calendar year, Strive would need to accumulate an average of roughly 1,212 BTC weekly to achieve 44,000 BTC by year-end, provided Metaplanet initiates no further buys.
Meanwhile, Strategy remains far ahead of all competitors. The enterprise led by Michael Saylor bought another 334 BTC for $28.7 million last week, pushing its total stockpile to 848,000 BTC.
Bitcoin exchanged hands around $86,000 on Monday. Strive shares (ASST) advanced roughly 1.6% to reach $30.50 during early market trading hours, whereas its SATA preferred shares remained stable at their targeted $100 par value.
