Tokenized markets display distinct investment and trading trends compared to conventional markets, based on a recent Dune analysis contrasting on-chain and off-chain activities across cash-equivalent products, commodities, credit, and equities.
Dune discovered this divergence is especially clear within equities, where individual stocks represented 81% of the supply for tokenized equity spot, while exchange-traded funds represented 19%.
Ondo Finance ecosystem head Armand Khatri noted that tokenization grants participants greater authority regarding asset selection by lessening reliance on the inventories of domestic intermediaries.
“The investor decides which they want,” he remarked, addressing the selection between index exposure and individual corporate ownership.
Dune valued tokenized real-world assets at $34.5 billion as of August 31, reflecting an increase of more than 140% relative to the prior year, with cash equivalents continuing to lead supply while equities stood out as the most heavily traded category.

Tokenized equities remain a fraction of global markets
Additional Binance Research statistics referenced by Binance co-chief executive Richard Teng estimated the tokenized equity sector at $4.43 billion by September 15, marking a 390% growth throughout 2026 though representing only 0.0029% of the $151.9 trillion worldwide listed-equity market.
Binance Research estimated that tokenized equities might climb to roughly $349 billion by 2030 under its baseline projection. Teng mentioned that asset tokenization has the potential to alter how market participants reach equity instruments, yet added that this transformation “won’t happen overnight.”
United States exchanges and regulators have likewise moved to broaden tokenized trading. On September 17, the Securities and Exchange Commission approved a temporary waiver permitting restricted on-chain trading concerning tokenized equities listed in the US.
Additionally, Blockchain.com and the New York Stock Exchange revealed intentions to introduce tokenized US-listed equities and ETFs through the upcoming digital exchange platform operated by the NYSE, pending regulatory clearance.
