Summary
- Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) recommenced share buybacks following an approximate 10-week pause, acquiring 2.04 million shares for roughly $45.9 million in the past week.
- The Ethereum treasury enterprise has invested nearly $400 million to acquire 22.9 million shares throughout the year, stating it will maintain repurchases whenever executives deem the stock undervalued.
- Chairman Tom Lee expressed that the current digital asset selloff represents a strong opportunity, pointing out that cryptocurrencies have weathered the market downturn better than artificial intelligence equities.
Bitmine Immersion Technologies BMNR $21.38 restarted share buybacks after roughly ten weeks of inactivity, while simultaneously adding to its ether ETH $2,490.55 reserves as Chairman Tom Lee views the latest crypto correction as a buying window.
The Ethereum treasury corporation acquired 2.04 million equities last week at a mean price of $22.48, expending about $45.9 million. This marked Bitmine’s initial buyback since August 17, when the business concluded a five-week repurchase program totaling around 21 million shares valued at $350 million.
These latest acquisitions elevate Bitmine’s aggregate buybacks for the year to 22.9 million shares, representing a cost close to $400 million. The organization indicated that it intends to keep acquiring its own stock whenever leadership perceives the equities as trading below fair value.
This strategic shift occurs as Lee contends that digital assets have demonstrated greater resilience than AI-centric equities during the recent market correction, which he attributes to investors pulling back from speculative exposure.
Cryptocurrencies were dragged down by identical risk-off pressures driving the artificial intelligence selloff, Lee noted in a Monday statement. ETH has dropped 13 percent from its recent local top, whereas the United States semiconductor sector ($SOXX) has retreated 20 percent inside that exact timeframe. We regard this as further proof that a crypto bull market remains active.
This market comparison arrives after weeks of downward pressure on artificial intelligence equities driven by anxieties surrounding data center expenditures and potential investment returns. Lee highlighted crypto’s milder retreat as an indicator of underlying strength, though this does not preclude the possibility of additional drawdowns.
Bitmine Keeps Buying ETH, but Slowing
Alongside its stock repurchases, Bitmine accumulated an extra 10,452 ETH valued at approximately $24.5 million, representing a slower pace compared to the 12,535 ETH acquired the prior week.
That addition brought total reserves to 6,051,933 ETH, translating to roughly 4.95 percent of the overall 122.2 million token supply of Ethereum. The corporation currently sits roughly 58,000 ETH away from achieving its stated milestone of holding 5 percent of all ether.
These twin acquisitions illustrate how Bitmine is dividing its capital allocation between expanding its ETH stash and repurchasing its own equity, leaning towards the latter as the entity approaches its accumulation objective.
Furthermore, Bitmine has staked approximately 5.23 million ETH, which equates to 86 percent of its total holdings, and forecasts roughly $318 million in annualized staking returns under prevailing yields.
