Conventional Wall Street wealth-building avenues, like equities in private enterprises, stay largely closed off to the everyday investing public until they officially debut on public exchanges, which means everyday buyers miss out on the most substantial pre-IPO upside, explained Jeff Yan, co-founder and chief executive officer of Hyperliquid.
“Certain instruments can only be exchanged by a tiny circle of individuals across multiple magnitudes of expansion, and then finally made available to the masses solely after all that expansion has already been captured by a privileged few,” Yan stated during a Tuesday fireside conversation at Token2049 in Singapore.
While viewing this mechanism as a natural outcome of the broader macroeconomic structure, Yan noted that this wealth-generation framework is not “sustainable.”
Yan asserted that Hyperliquid’s expanding income stems directly from broadening global access to blockchain-powered wealth-building pathways via their decentralized trading platform.

Hyperliquid’s mission is financial openness, not ‘optimizing’ for revenue: CEO
The primary objective of Hyperliquid is to expand availability to wealth generation tools and encourage wider engagement within the monetary architecture, whereas financial returns serve simply as an auxiliary effect, Yan clarified, adding:
“We are not actively tuning our model for revenue generation. That is simply a secondary outcome of delivering value to participants.”
He mentioned that Hyperliquid’s achievements stem partly from its perpetual swap agreements featuring no expiration dates, which cuts down on choices required by speculators and prevents liquidity splitting.

Onchain perps may challenge Wall Street: Pantera
In July, crypto-centered investment firm Pantera noted that perpetual futures could evolve into leading transactional instruments across international finance because of their structural advantages, with Hyperliquid serving as an example of how decentralized ledger architecture might disrupt legacy institutions.
The expansion of Hyperliquid has also attracted the interest of traditional financial players, including the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE)—the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE)—whose chief executive Jeffrey Sprecher called upon oversight bodies to establish a “level playing field” to facilitate continuous, round-the-clock onchain perpetual swap products.
During March, the NYSE joined forces with tokenization network Securitize as part of a broader initiative to build blockchain-backed equity exchange systems featuring continuous trade execution and settlement for Wall Street operators.
