The government of Wyoming is broadening its utilization of Chainlink to deliver near-instantaneous, onchain validation of the collateral supporting its Frontier Stable Token (FRNT), which serves as the official state stablecoin.
The Wyoming Stable Token Commission announced it has implemented Chainlink Proof of Reserve, following its decision in August to transition FRNT away from LayerZero and onto Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). The state became part of a growing cohort of entities that made this migration, with $15 billion in decentralized value having moved from LayerZero to CCIP.
Wyoming already surpasses the disclosure benchmarks mandated by the GENIUS Act, yet noted that Chainlink Proof of Reserve will supply enhanced ongoing visibility by merging independent audits with automated onchain validation concerning FRNT’s backing assets.
“Wyoming has consistently led the nation in advancing responsible digital asset innovation,” Anthony Apollo, Executive Director of the Wyoming Stable Token Commission, remarked in an official statement. “By adopting Chainlink Proof of Reserve as Wyoming’s exclusive onchain asset verification infrastructure, we’re providing transparent, verifiable confirmation that the Frontier Stable Token is fully backed by high-quality reserve assets. This strengthens trust in FRNT while establishing the highest standard for transparency in public-sector digital assets.”
Under this framework, The Network Firm will review FRNT’s collateral and circulating token volume in accordance with AICPA guidelines, whereas Chainlink Proof of Reserve will publish validated backing metrics onchain nearly in real time. Wyoming stated this integration aims to shrink informational gaps between audit cycles and furnish regulators, institutional players, and market participants with greater confidence that FRNT remains entirely collateralized.
The Commission is additionally moving forward with the adoption of Chainlink Proof of Reserve Secure Mint. Such a mechanism would mandate that verified reserves match or exceed the cumulative supply of FRNT prior to the issuance of any new tokens. This capability is engineered to help thwart infinite-mint exploits and supply cryptographic proof that newly minted tokens possess adequate backing.
FRNT launched in January as the initial stablecoin put into circulation by an American state government. The digital asset is backed by U.S. fiat currency alongside short-term U.S. Treasury bills, with yields generated from these reserves assisting in the diversification of Wyoming’s public revenues while funding its School Foundation Program.
