An XRP Ledger upgrade that was scheduled to go live on September 29 has been delayed by at least ten days after validator backing temporarily dropped beneath the necessary activation threshold.
Known as Batch, this capability will enable users to bundle up to eight transactions together. Its all-or-nothing function could allow a purchaser to pay for and acquire a tokenized asset within a single transaction, stopping either phase of the trade from finishing independently.
Ayo Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, previously informed CoinDesk that various projects were being designed with Batch in mind and that Ripple would release additional details regarding collaborations with asset managers once the capability launched.
“Certain initiatives are already being constructed keeping Batch in view, meaning activation would allow that progress to advance closer to implementation,” he stated. He did not disclose the names of the collaborators or provide specific release dates.
The revised upgrade, officially designated as BatchV1_1, secured backing from 30 out of 35 trusted validators on September 25, according to the XRPL amendment portal. This triggered a brand new two-week countdown, setting its potential earliest activation for October 9 near 14:46 UTC provided the support remains stable.
Validators represent the participants who verify transactions and cast votes regarding modifications to the network. XRPL network updates must maintain endorsement from upwards of 80% of trusted validators across two consecutive weeks. Losing that backing erases all previously accumulated time, even if the votes are recovered shortly afterward.
Batch had been counting down since September 15. This represents a second attempt at launching the feature, following developers pulling the initial version due to a serious signature-checking vulnerability prior to deployment. The fixed iteration was released in August alongside version 3.3.0 of the ledger software.
A separate upgrade granting account holders the ability to delegate specific responsibilities also forfeited the backing required to conclude its countdown timer.
The feature, referred to as PermissionDelegationV1_1, would enable an enterprise to grant another account permission to execute approved tasks without exposing the signing keys that govern its funds. A token issuer could distribute payment duties and compliance obligations to distinct operational accounts.

That specific upgrade dropped its required support on September 23 before recovering it a day later, shifting its earliest possible activation timeline from October 5 to October 8 around 21:25 UTC.
