Payward, the parent organization behind cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, alongside financial technology enterprise SoFi Technologies, revealed an agreement on Thursday to direct cryptocurrency orders from SoFi users through Kraken’s institutional trading infrastructure while also listing SoFi’s stablecoin on the platform.
Based on the pact, SoFi will channel its digital asset transaction flow into Kraken Prime, the institutional brokerage division of Kraken that debuted in 2025.
Instead of matching orders against a single liquidity pool, Kraken Prime utilizes intelligent order routing to evaluate pricing and market depth throughout various execution venues, fulfilling orders where execution conditions are most favorable. SoFi indicated that users will experience zero alterations to the application interface.
Additionally, Payward is entering the SoFi Exchange Network, which serves as the financial institution’s instantaneous settlement network, and will incorporate SoFiUSD—the bank-developed stablecoin—onto Kraken.
In exchange, business and institutional clients utilizing Kraken Prime will secure entry to SoFi corporate banking capabilities along with continuous fiat settlement around the clock. Both organizations noted that qualified custody solutions will be introduced at a later date.
SoFi maintains a federal banking charter and serves 15.8 million users. This collaboration represents the most recent addition to a growing list of alliances between Kraken and legacy financial institutions, following previous agreements with Deutsche Börse regarding foreign exchange and derivatives technology, Nasdaq concerning a tokenized stock access point, and Franklin Templeton involving the tokenization of exchange-traded funds.
This announcement follows last year’s milestone when SoFi, functioning entirely as an online financial lender, became the initial federally chartered United States bank to introduce digital asset capabilities for everyday consumers.
The enterprise’s updated SoFi crypto platform enables members to purchase, trade, and store bitcoin right inside their existing banking accounts.
Kraken—much like alternative digital asset platforms—is expanding into conventional financial markets by enabling clients to trade equities, fixed income securities, and additional financial instruments. The organization has marketed its application as a comprehensive financial hub.
