Executives driving the competition to construct the most potent artificial intelligence systems globally are beginning to agree on a proposition that would have sounded radical merely a few years back: the contest must decelerate.
Dario Amodei, the CEO of Claude’s creator Anthropic, advocated on Saturday for enterprises to intentionally moderate progress in frontier AI, asserting that model capabilities were advancing faster than the capacity of researchers to comprehend and manage them.
Within an essay titled “We Must Pace the Frontier”, Amodei stated that developments since the summer had persuaded him that safety research was no longer keeping pace with rapidly expanding capabilities.
“We must slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models,” Amodei penned.
