Deutsche Bank is getting ready to roll out its digital asset custody offering before the conclusion of 2026.
Germany’s premier financial institution indicated that, pending final regulatory clearances, the offering will provide institutional and enterprise customers throughout Europe with compliant digital asset safeguarding.
Upon launch, the platform will cater to a curated group of virtual currencies, featuring bitcoin and ether, alongside stablecoins such as USDC and EURC.
Gerald Podobnik, co-head of corporate banking at Deutsche, remarked in a Wednesday statement that digital assets function as a vital addition to traditional finance rather than a substitute.
Podobnik further noted that these are viewed as novel networks operating alongside current market frameworks, and the solution will evolve based on customer needs, compliance mandates, and the institution’s risk tolerance.
Previous reports from last July indicated that Deutsche Bank was collaborating with the Bitpanda exchange to set up a digital currency storage platform targeted for release in 2026.
With businesses and large enterprises increasingly embracing virtual assets, they are expected to favor custody solutions provided by traditional banks they currently utilize for conventional wealth management.
Other major European lenders, including Standard Chartered and BBVA, already deliver similar capabilities.
