Animoca Brands has halted negotiations regarding a planned reverse merger with Currenc Group Inc. (CURR), which would have allowed the digital asset investment firm to achieve a listing on the Nasdaq.
Both entities concluded that the anticipated schedule to complete the arrangement failed to match their individual objectives, Animoca stated on Tuesday.
Discussions between Animoca and Currenc started late last year, featuring an arrangement where the former would hold a 95% ownership stake in the combined entity.
The Hong Kong-headquartered firm shared that it “remains fully dedicated” to securing a listing on a primary public bourse, with co-founder Yat Siu noting that the organization will “continue to pursue optimal routes” toward going public.
The operations of Animoca Brands encompass decentralized finance (DeFi), artificial intelligence, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and gaming, with advisory services generating an increasingly large share of its income over recent years.
Currenc equities closed at $3.23 on Monday, marking a 1.25% daily increase, prior to declining by 0.93% during Monday after-hours trading.
