A feline-themed memecoin built on Solana has handed out nearly three million dollars worth of zcash to its investors, as concurrent price rallies across both tokens transformed an unconventional incentive structure into massive distributions.
Anonymous Cat, known by the ticker ZCAT, levies a 3 percent transaction tax each time the cryptocurrency moves. Project metrics indicate that the vast majority of these collected funds are swapped into zcash (ZEC) and sent to addresses holding a minimum of $20 in ZCAT.
Because ZEC values have recently experienced a massive breakout, the distributions received by CAT holders have skyrocketed. Statistics reveal that approximately 2,320 ZEC, valued at roughly $2.8 million as of Monday morning in Asia, have been handed out across upwards of 470,000 distinct transactions.
It is important to understand that these ZEC distributions stem from the purchasing, selling, and transfer activities of other participants, rather than yields generated by an operational enterprise or investment vehicle. Consequently, if market volume dries up, these distributions will experience a dramatic contraction.
Over the preceding twelve months, ZEC climbed by more than 2,300 percent, breaching the $1,200 mark late Sunday amid surging enthusiasm for privacy-centric digital assets. Zcash enables participants to obscure transaction specifics, including the origin, destination, and transfer volume—positioning it as the most straightforward method for speculators wagering on privacy narratives regaining dominance among cryptocurrency traders.
Investors also have access to a more traditional pathway. Late August saw Grayscale launch a spot Zcash ETF on NYSE Arca, providing exposure through a regulated U.S. vehicle rather than forcing participants to purchase and store ZEC independently.
Additionally, ZCAT trades directly against ZEC via StonkFun, a Solana-based token deployment platform that permits newly launched projects to utilize alternative assets instead of standard SOL or stablecoins for their primary trading pairs.
ZCAT has rallied in tandem with its pairing asset. On Monday, the token changed hands near 13 cents, boasting a market capitalization of approximately $124 million alongside a 24-hour trading volume of about $22 million. Over the weekend, it briefly touched nearly 19 cents before experiencing a steep correction during early Monday trading sessions.
Feline-inspired tokens are currently enjoying widespread popularity, driven by catalysts that bear little relation to traditional financial metrics.
Another token named Cash Cat serves as a recent illustration of how rapidly an internet joke can integrate with a novel blockchain ecosystem. The asset gained momentum following the July launch of Robinhood Chain, achieving cult status in part because Cash Cat represented an early moniker linked to Robinhood prior to the brokerage rebranding.
During the token’s initial week of trading, a single speculator converted roughly $800 into more than $1 million, while memecoins rapidly evolved into one of the most heavily utilized applications on the blockchain infrastructure created by Robinhood around tokenized equities.
