Chainlink (LINK) revealed that it has formed an alliance with LG CNS, the IT service and AI transformation division belonging to South Korean business giant LG Group, to strengthen the underlying framework of the nation’s $68 billion digital asset industry.
Through this collaborative agreement, the pair stated they will concentrate on growing the reach and application of Korean stablecoins, representing a developing sector containing over 11 million prospective participants.
At present, South Korea lacks a definitive regulatory framework governing the business-related release and exchange of fiat-pegged stablecoins tied to the local currency. Nonetheless, government officials and legislators are currently developing the Digital Asset Basic Act, which intends to set up regulations for won stablecoins alongside different guidelines for the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem.
Aside from stablecoins, LG CNS plans to incorporate Chainlink’s data, cross-chain, and orchestration tools into its institutional digital asset software offerings tailored for Korean organizations. Additionally, both entities will merge their knowledge to support the progression of South Korea’s digital asset regulations, according to the press release.
“Korea’s financial infrastructure is entering the tokenization era. LG CNS is committed to leading this transition, and together with Chainlink, we aim to accelerate the growth of Korea’s tokenized securities market by enabling secure interoperability and real-world data, while creating a foundation for global expansion,” Hongkeun Kim, executive vice president and head of digital business division at LG CNS, said in the announcement.
Chainlink operates as a decentralized oracle platform linking blockchain smart contracts to external environments and real-world metrics. Its primary objective involves delivering trustworthy data feeds, cross-chain communication, and coordination utilities aimed at decentralized finance, RWA tokenization, and enterprise networks.
LG Group ranks among South Korea’s premier corporate conglomerates, holding roughly 186 trillion won ($140.5 billion) in total assets distributed across 63 subsidiary companies, alongside a collective market valuation exceeding $100 billion for all affiliated entities. Furthermore, LG CNS serves as the primary contractor for the Bank of Korea’s prominent central bank digital currency test known as Project Hangang.
