Demand for stablecoins is rising across regions such as Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East.
Jeremy Allaire, the chief executive officer and chairman of stablecoin creator Circle, stated that the organization intends to expand its presence into roughly 40 emerging economies.
During an interview with Reuters on Friday on the margins of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank gatherings in Bangkok, Allaire remarked, “We’re kind of going through an inflection point…a transition right now, and that transition is essentially moving from the early adopter phase of blockchain technology into the mainstream scaling phase.”
Allaire reportedly noted that nations within Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East are witnessing a surge in stablecoin interest as both commercial entities and consumers attempt to access the web-native financial ecosystem.
On August 24, it was reported that market researchers at Bernstein expressed an optimistic outlook for Circle, predicting that an upcoming expansion period for the USDC stablecoin could offer a major advantage to the enterprise throughout the upcoming year.
Bernstein indicated that subsequent expansion in the stablecoin sector could stem from multiple catalysts, such as revived enthusiasm across digital asset markets, improved regulatory transparency in the United States, asset tokenization, and rising utilization of stablecoins for transactions. Furthermore, the experts highlighted preliminary indicators of stablecoin transactions executed by artificial intelligence agents.
Even though USDC persists as the runner-up among fiat-pegged stablecoins by total valuation, trailing significantly behind Tether’s USDt (USDT), it has captured substantial momentum regarding transfer volume. Bernstein stated that the proportion of adjusted stablecoin transfer activity attributable to USDC climbed from approximately 40% during 2025 to surpass 60% thus far in 2026, surpassing USDt using that metric.
On September 8, reports emerged that Circle reached an accord to purchase the Singapore-centered international settlement network Tazapay via a $400 million stock transaction anticipated to finalize in 2027.
