Trading activity for digital assets on Robinhood grew by 61% sequentially to reach $17.5 billion during August, despite staying 38% under the figures recorded during the same period last year.
The digital trading platform revealed within its August 2026 performance update, shared on Thursday, that Bitstamp contributed $10.1 billion to the aggregate amount, whereas the primary Robinhood application generated $7.4 billion.
Bitstamp’s trading activity expanded by 53% compared to July but declined 30% on an annual basis, while the core Robinhood platform saw its volume climb 72% month-over-month yet shrink 46% relative to August 2025.
Bitstamp, the digital asset marketplace purchased by Robinhood in June 2025, additionally served as the larger driver behind the company’s digital asset activity throughout the second quarter. It contributed $22 billion out of Robinhood’s cumulative $40 billion total, contrasting with the $18 billion originating from the native Robinhood application.
Robinhood’s income derived from digital currency transactions dropped 38% year-over-year down to $100 million for the second quarter, shifting from approximately $160 million in the previous year. Expansions within event contracts, options, and stocks successfully compensated for the drop, enabling the brokerage firm to achieve record-breaking quarterly earnings and revenue.
The August operational filing noted that digital asset turnover originating from the Robinhood Chain was excluded from these statistics.
