Tether spearheaded a $15 million investment round for Mural, deepening the stablecoin giant’s commitment to technology designed to let artificial intelligence agents manage financial transactions.
This Series A financing, which featured backing from North Island Ventures along with returning investors, elevates the total capital raised by the New York enterprise to $28 million, as stated in a press release distributed on Tuesday.
Established by alumni from Palantir, Mural supplies financial technology firms and other digital platforms with the underlying architecture needed to handle accounts, transactions, know-your-customer checks, and legal compliance spanning legacy financial rails and distributed ledgers. Its client roster features prominent names such as global payroll provider Deel and web browser creator Opera.
This financial injection arrives amid growing fintech experimentation with agentic finance, a model where artificial intelligence entities can autonomously launch and settle payments for people and commercial entities.
Mural’s framework enables organizations to establish spending thresholds, limit transaction partners, and mandate extra authorizations for substantial transfers, tackling key issues regarding permission and liability when self-governing code transfers funds.
Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, noted in the release that as autonomous agents begin handling capital, integration with legacy banking systems, transaction channels, and compliance protocols remains critically important.
This strategic move underscores Tether’s broadening focus on developing underlying frameworks outside of just minting stablecoins, especially given that programmable transactions are becoming a major application for artificial intelligence driven financial tools.
