Early Tuesday morning, Bitcoin hovered just above $86,000, registering a 0.2% decline over the trailing 24-hour window. During Monday’s session, the asset climbed past $87,000 but encountered intense selling pressure for the third occasion since September 23.
Among major digital assets, ZEC stood out with an advance of nearly 2%, reaching approximately $1,360. Conversely, DOGE performed the worst, dropping close to 2%. Meanwhile, SOL retreated by 1%, while ether, XRP, and BNB all experienced minor losses of under 1%, as reported by CoinDesk metrics.
Data from FxPro indicated that Bitcoin momentarily dipped to $85,200 prior to the commencement of European market hours. The cryptocurrency remains close to the upper boundary of its established trading channel from the previous fortnight. Although the sequence of ascending lows established at the beginning of last week faces pressure, the firm noted that this trendline remains unbroken.
“A drop under $84K would represent a triumph for the bears,” FxPro remarked, implying that market participants anticipating downward momentum would gain control. The firm added that an extended decline past the recent trough near $83,000 would solidify this trend reversal and could rapidly push Bitcoin down toward the $80,000 threshold.
Meanwhile, the bond market provided some measure of stability. U.S. Treasury yields retreated from peaks not seen since 2002 as petroleum prices dropped under $100 per barrel. Furthermore, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that economic expansion and fiscal discipline would “very rapidly” begin to decelerate government debt issuance. This development temporarily halted an international bond sell-off fueled by inflation concerns linked to the conflict between the U.S. and Iran, alongside expectations that the Federal Reserve will maintain its monetary tightening stance.
The release of the latest Federal Reserve meeting minutes is scheduled for Wednesday.
