Interactive Brokers has rolled out cryptocurrency staking for qualifying customers, broadening its digital asset capabilities past simple transfers and trading.
Upon rollout, staking applies exclusively to Ethereum and is accessible via the platform’s Client Portal, with backend execution handled by digital asset infrastructure provider ZeroHash. Payouts are distributed in extra staked ETH and have the ability to compound for as long as the holding stays locked in staking.
“In much the same way our Stock Yield Enhancement Program enables investors to generate extra revenue from stocks in their portfolio, staking offers customers a chance to collect rewards on the digital currencies they hold,” stated Interactive Brokers CEO Milan Galik in a statement. “Our goal is to help clients extract more value from their stored holdings.”
Interactive Brokers initially began offering crypto trading back in 2021 and subsequently grew its product selection during the early part of 2025. Back in January, the trading firm also rolled out round-the-clock account funding via USDC to facilitate continuous trading operations.
In parallel, financial giant Morgan Stanley has allegedly pursued a national trust bank charter that would grant it the ability to safeguard virtual currencies as well as provide trading and staking products to its wealth management customers.
